Cosmetic Dentistry

Here at Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry, we offer a number of cosmetic dentistry procedures to give you your best smile.

Straight teeth are pretty teeth, and if your teeth are unhappy with your smile, orthodontia can help. It doesn’t matter if you are 7 or 70 — you can get braces and finally get the nice, even smile you have always wanted. We offer traditional metal braces, but for our patients who prefer a less-noticeable remedy, we offer Invisalign.

For those with chipped or misshapen teeth, or one or two discolored teeth, our dental clinic offers bonding, contouring and ceramic or porcelain crowns. A badly chipped tooth may be a candidate for a crown, but for a small chip, our dentists can do a bonding procedure, during which our dentists bond a synthetic material to your tooth to restore its natural shape. It looks completely natural — no one would ever be able to tell your tooth has been repaired.

If you have a metal crown, or you feel like your crown does not match your natural teeth, our dentists can replace it with a ceramic or porcelain crown. With the ability to offer same day crowns with our Cerec lab onsite, we can get you feeling confident about your smile quick and fast. These types of crowns are virtually indistinguishable from real teeth.

Teeth Whitening

Many of the patients at our Layton dental clinic are also interested in teeth whitening. We have several options for teeth whitening to be done in the convenience of your home. Veneers are also an option; they are permanent coatings affixed over your natural teeth that make your smile instantly bright and white.

Veneers

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structures.

Invisalign

Invisalign straightens your teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-molded aligners. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth with results you’ll notice sooner than you think. The course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks, moving your teeth into straighter position step by step, until you have a more beautiful smile. And unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth as usual.
